Turk Pazari

Turkish delights... A turkish treat in the heart of karachi, also known as turkish paste or lokum. Its a simple jelly made with sugar, cream of tarter and a bit of flavour. The best thing about this candy is that it does not require gelatin or pectin to firm it up but just corn starch. Turk Pazari is serving very authentic turkish candy in a variety of flavours apart from other turkish sweets, belgiun chocolates and cakes. I tried mint, strawberry,  pomegranate and mixed fruit. Not too sweet and perfect chewy texture best goes with a hot cup of turkish tea for me. Will be trying more sweet goodies from turk pazari soon.

A lite sunday dinner after a heavy breakfast is what we wanted to have. What else is better than a homemade roasted tomato soup with fresh sauteed garlic mushrooms and cheesy garlic bread. Roasted tomato soup: oven roasted fresh tomatoes, garlic and onions with a pinch of salt and a drizzle of olive oil. Blend it with a little water in a blender and simmer with salt olive oil and tomato paste and a few finely chopped basil leaves. Topped with a dollop of fresh cream. Cheesy garlic bread: minced garlic mixed in lurpak butter with a pinch of salt and spread over the slices of french baguette bought from my favourite bread place 'slice of life', topped with mozerella cheese from 'farmers cheese making', baked under the hot grill and voila! Garlic Mushrooms: fresh mushrooms are love and when sauteed in garlic and butter, it produces this delicious nutty flavour. Teas I Love

Winter calls for a hot cup of tea and luckily karachi is getting chilly. I love sipping on different types of teas and kahwas (kehwa) and my most favourite is the arabic kahwa with ilaichi. A lovely friend bought it from saudi. Aromatic and refreshing with a pungent cardamom flavour. Another favourite is twinging's chamomile tea also known as sleep tea is best to take before bed time for a good night's sleep. Experts says it helps in relieving stress, anxiety, inflammation and treats stomach problems. Lipton's lemon and mint green tea is best taken after a heavy meal with a bit of fresh lemon and it works wonders for me. My other favourites are turkish tea bought from turkey and fresh japenese silver tea, english breakfast tea and moroccon mint tea bought from Sri Lanka.
